This is one of the best things we’ve done lately. We cancelled our Direct TV that was upwards of $100 per month, and got Netflix and Hulu Plus on the Roku. Total subscription is $16 a month. Granted you have to watch your shows a day later, but it works for us. Putting kids to bed never let us watch anything ontime anyway. We use the Wii to watch Netflix too (because we already had a Wii) but you really only need the Roku.
Here’s what you do. Buy a Roku for $99 bucks.
Subscribe to Netflix for $7.99
Subscribe to Hulu Plus for $7.99
Follow directions/prompts on Roku to configure.
Cancel your cable.
It has saved us so much money and we wouldn’t trade our situation back for cable or satellite. You can also rent movies from Amazon OnDemand through the Roku. They are $4.00, so we usually do Redbox or Blockbuster Express, but it’s a nice feature if you don’t want to leave the house.
